Advice on the Fight Against “Picudo Rojo” or Red Palm Weevil

The Town Hall of Poble Nou of Benitachell has issued a communiqué with advice on how to fight the plague of Red Palm Weevils or Picudos Rojos currently attacking public and private palm trees in town.
First: If you are a resident in town and own date (Phoenix dactylifera) and/or Canary palm trees (Phoenix canariensis), please be aware of the health of your plants. Should they show any strange signs of being attacked by a plague or bitten, please report this immediately to the Environment Department by calling at +34 966 493 369. You can also report this to the Council of Agriculture, Fishing and Food —Conselleria de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación.

Fiestas in Teulada from 27 April to 8 May
Fiestas in Teulada
As every year during Holy Week, Teulada sets everything up to celebrate its fiestas, which are held to honour San Vicente Ferrer, patron saint of the town. This year, the fiestas start on Wednesday 27, with concerts by the Agrupación Musical de Teulada —Teulada Music Band— and the Coral Teuladina —teulada choir— at the new auditorium.
On Friday 29 April, some of the most important events taking place in Teulada are the crowning of the 2011 Fiestas Queen. Afterwards, anyone who wishes to join the macro mobile discotheque party can do so.
Internet now Available at the Library of Poble Nou de Benitachell

The Town Hall of Poble Nou de Benitachell has signed a DSL contract for the Public Library to offer a better connection. The internet sped is now up to 8 MB.
The ground floor hosts 11 PCs and the second floor has two more for people’s use. Not only are these PCs connected to hi-speed internet, but also there is wi-fi available throughout the building. To get the password, request it to a member of the library staff.

Residents’ Ring in Benitachell
Poble Nou de Benitachell
Poble Nou de Benitachell Town Hall is organising a ring to link and assist on queries by the residents in town. This includes every residential estate within the town limits.
This initiative aims to provide adequate representation for every resident regardless of the estate they live in and of whether if they have a community of owners or not. Residences where there is a community of owners, the president will be the official representative.
