Volvo Ocean Race 2011 kicks off from Alicante

The Race Village of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012 will open at the port of Alicante on 14 October, the same day that will begin three busy weeks of activities in Alicante in the framework of the regattas and races of the Stage 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012 that will connect Alicante to the South African port of Cape Town in a route of 6,500 nautical miles (12,038 kilometers) on 5 November 2011.
The Race Village will be a sort of amusement park with free access to the dock of the port of Alicante, which will remain open for three weeks until 5 November and will have a comprehensive schedule by the sea for all who enjoy the sailing sports.

The beaches of the Region of Valencia, mainly those of the Costa Blanca have properly managed their features to maintain high quality standards and services that have earned the two most important quality services distinctions: the Quality “Q” and the “Blue Flag” awards.
At a ceremony held recently by the Spanish Minister of Tourism in Madrid, the Councilman of Beaches of Calpe, Antonio Romero, received the Quality “Q” certification flag for outstanding conditions of the beaches of La Fossa and the Arenal-Bol. During the award ceremony the high performance conditions for tourism was highlighted in two areas: services and public facilities of these beaches.

Please find below information about the the free hiking trails organized by the Javea/Xabia Town Hall (Alicante) during the month of August 2010, four walking routes starting on the 15th of August 2010.
Walking Route Barraca bay (SL-CV 97) on Sunday August 15th, 2010 at 7pm, the starting point is the viewing point Mirador Cruz Portitxol, the estimated duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes and it is considered a low difficulty route. Do not forget to bring water, comfortable shoes, camera and swimsuit.

During the months of August and September in Moraira and Teulada you can enjoy the summer movie nights that have been organized with outdoor film screenings. In Moraira the film screenings are on Wednesday at the Urban Forest on the Ampolla beach at 10:30pm and in Teulada Town Hall Square they are on Fridays at 10:30pm.

Medieval Market in Teulada from the 6th to the 8th of August
This is a special edition of the Medieval Market for several reasons amongst which the return to its original location, now that the works in the historical center of Teulada have finished, and after the improvements that have been carried out this area of the town has now been declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Valencian Region Authorities.
